The pre-meeting field trip on 1 May includes a tour of the Stone’s River National Military Park and the Sam Davis Home. The Sam Davis Home in Smyrna commemorates the heroic story of Confederate soldier Sam Davis. Davis was captured in 1863 with detailed information on Union positions on his person. Davis, refusing to divulge the source of this information, was court martialed and hanged for spying. His home is preserved as a historic site and includes several historic buildings and a museum. The museum features three Confederate uniforms, a NC blanket, firearms, and edged weapons. Moderate walking.

Souvenir coin to be given registrants. Backside is a replica of medal struck by order of Congress for Jackson's victory at New Orleans.
Conference field trips include a behind the scenes tour of the Tennessee State Museum. The State Museum collection includes flags, uniforms, weapons, and accoutrements, from King’s Mountain, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I and World War II. Some of the highlights include: DePuyster’s surrender sword, Sam Houston’s saber, Gideon Pillow’s uniform, Patrick Cleburne’s kepi, and Alvin C. York’s Medal of Honor. We will also make a special trip to the Hermitage, home of General and President Andrew Jackson. Company members will get a rare opportunity to view 1812 era uniforms in the Hermitage collection. Moderate walking.
One post conference field trip will be offered on Sunday 4 May. The trip is a guided tour of the Carter House. The house was the focal point of the Confederate attack during the battle of Franklin and still retains much of the damage from the battle. The site also includes a museum with uniforms, accouterments, weapons, and photographs. Short, moderate walking required.
We have also lined up many interesting speakers for the meeting covering a wide range of topics. Schedule. Print out a Registration Form. Registration deadline is 1 April 2008. No registrations will be accepted at the door.
