Commendation Award Recipients

The Commendation Award recognizes outstanding service to The Company. A Commendation may be awarded for any outstanding service that brings distinction to the Company or a chapter or improves services to members. The member's work may have been a one time contribution or continuing service over a period of time in one or more areas. The Commendation Award was first given in 2006.

 
2006
Frank Arey III was recognized for his outstanding service to the Company as assistant editor for Military Collector and Historian since 2000. He demonstrates "unsurpassed attention to editing detail," and was willing to edit six issues in a single year to help get the journal back on schedule.
William S. and Lois Eagan were recognized for their exceptional commitment to recruiting new members for The Company. The two of them sponsored at least 31 new members during 2004 and 2005 alone.
James J. Hennessey was recognized for his outstanding service as an artist for the Company's Military Uniforms in America plate series. He has not only produced nine quality plates, but has also written the text for eight of them.
COL John K. Robertson, USA (Ret.) was recognized for continued outstanding service to the Company after having been named a Fellow in 2005. In addition to serving as layout editor for Military Collector and Historian, he has also improved communication by sending mass e-mails to the membership, establishing the Governors' Forum, and enhancing the web site.
Timothy Terrell was recognized for his outstanding service to the Company as assistant editor for Military Collector and Historian since 2001. He can be relied upon to faithfully complete his editing duties on schedule, no matter what the circumstances – including the water main break that forced him to move temporarily out of his home.
 
2007
William S. and Lois Eagan for their outstanding recruiting efforts, resulting in ten new members during 2006. (2nd Commendation for Recruiting)
Mark R. Kasal and his wife Nancy for planning and hosting a successful CMH Annual Meeting on the West Coast in April 2006 at Los Angeles.
Ryan Weddle for his outstanding recruiting efforts, resulting in ten new members during 2006.
2008

Ken Baumann for moderating the For Sale and Wanted posting areas of the CMH website.
John L. Morris for his outstanding contributions to the CMH online forum.
Alex de Quesada for recruiting eight new life memberships and five new life institutional members from Chile.
James B. Ronan II for his outstanding work as editor of the Dispatch.
 
2010

Linnea Bass - for serving as Chair of the Awards Committee, and for her work revising The Company By-laws.

Craig Bell  - for serving as a member of the Host Committees for the 2007 and 2010 national meetings, for sharing his legal expertise with CMH Committees and for recruiting new members. 
George F. Franks, III - for outstanding leadership of the Chesapeake Chapter of the Company of Military Historians and for recruiting new members.
Laurence Munnikhuysen III - for organizing the Greater Tidewater Chapter and for recruiting new members.
Ross M. A. Wilson - for contributions to the Awards Committee, designing the CMH lapel pin and other awards and overseeing their production. 
2011
Steven M. Baule  - For refining the CMH website and devising a webpage that allows a prospective member to join directly.
Robert Calvert, Jr. - For contributing several dozen book reviews to Military Collector & Historian and the Company Dispatch
John L. Morris  - For sponsoring more than ten new members in 2010.
COL John K. Robertson, USA (Ret.) (second award)  - For outstanding contributions to the CMH website.  Second award.
John Thillmann - For organizing the successful 2010 annual meeting at Reston, Virginia.
2012
Richard Ellis - For his contributions to the CMH Forum by providing accurate and timely answers to questions posted there.
Michelle Figliomeni – For her outstanding contributions to CMH, serving as Secretary to the West Point Chapter for fourteen consecutive years (1995-2008) and as both a Governor and Secretary to the Board of Governors.
 
2013
John Thilmann – For organizing the successful 2010 annual meeting at Reston, Virginia
Jeff Goodson - For both his past leadership as President of the Chesapeake Chapter of the Company of Military Historians and for his Chairing and having successfully conducted the 2012 Annual Meeting in Baltimore, MD April 19 through 21. We are deeply indebted to him for having salvaged a failing meeting plan and turned it into a success
2014
H. David Whieldon – For his long and active service as a member of the West Point Chapter of the Company of Military Historians in which he has brought distinction to both the Company of Military Historians and the West Point Chapter.
Marko Zlatich and Nancy Maes Aherne - For their service as volunteers of the Host Committee for many
Annual Company Meetings since 2004. For hosting the Chesapeake Chapter’s annual social gathering
in 2012. For their active support and participation in the Chesapeake Chapter. For their generous financial support of the Company.
